The Colorado Mammoth announced today that Jamie Hanford, Captain and NLL All-Star who formerly played for the New Jersey Storm, has joined the Mammoth squad for the 2003 season in exchange for forward Bobby Horsey and defenseman Chris Standish.
"Jamie is one of the best face-off specialists in the NLL," said Mammoth General Manager Steve Govett. "He is also a strong right-handed defender and a great transition player. We lost our starting face off man in the pre-season so we knew we were going to have to make a move. We were really excited at the opportunity to get a great defensive player and an NLL All-Star in Jamie, at the same time we are disappointed in losing Bobby Horsey, but New Jersey has been pressuring us to trade him since he entered the league last year and we needed a face off specialist."
NJ Storm Captain Jamie Hanford, 6'2", 214 lb right handed defenseman originally from Marin County, California now resides in New York, NY. Hanford went to Loyola College and entered the league with the Philadelphia Wings. He was picked up by New Jersey in the expansion draft and was their only NLL All Star last year. He was also a member of the USA World Cup team, and played club lacrosse for Team Toyota and NYAC. At Loyola, Hanford was voted All-American three years, and in 1998 was voted Best Face-Off Man in NCAA Division One Lacrosse.
Training Camp will run most weekends from November 8 through December 20, 2002. Training camp will be held Friday night at Arapahoe Sports Center at 7300 S. Fraser Street in Englewood, CO. The phone number there is 303-617-3988. Saturday practices will be held at OD Sportscrossing in Fort Collins, Colorado.
