The New Jersey Storm held off a late three-goal rally to edge the Columbus Landsharks 13-12 Saturday in front of 6,138 at Nationwide Arena.
Joe Teatro scored the deciding goal at 7:02 of the fourth quarter, leaving the Storm with a 13-9 advantage. A shorthanded tally by Bill Greer at 9:37 sparked a furious Landsharks comeback. Gewas Schindler scored unassisted at the 12:28 mark, and Kyle Jamieson closed the gap to one with 2:19 left, but goalie Matt Roik held fast until the buzzer to preserve the heartstopping win.
The Storm mounted a comeback of their own in the third quarter, turning a 9-5 deficit into a tie game with goals by Matt Panetta at 5:21, Joe Finstad at 8:18, Scott Stewart at 11:53 and Dallas Squire at 13:53.
Panetta paced the New Jersey offense with four goals and an assist. Teatro, Finstad and Travis Kilgour each scored twice, and Cam Bomberry racked up six assists.
