Mammoth Defeat Wings In Colorado

The Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse Team beat the Philadelphia Wings 15-14 last night at Mammoth Mania - the first exhibition game for the Mammoth in their new home at Pepsi Center. The exhibition was played after the Avalanche game and started at approximately 11pm in front of 12,500 fans. In addition to the game, single game tickets also went on sale for those who came down to Pepsi Center and are available at Pepsi Center and all Ticketmaster outlets starting December 7, 2002.

"We were overwhelmed by the turnout and enthusiasm from the crowd," said Steve Govett, President and General Manager of the Colorado Mammoth. "Attendance and ticket and merchandise sales were fantastic and now that we have experienced the support of the greatest sports fans in the country, we just can't wait for our first game on January 3rd against our biggest rival in the league - defending National Champions, Toronto Rock."

Colorado's goal scoring began 41 seconds into the first quarter and was followed by a second goal 28 seconds later to put Colorado up 2-0. At the end of the first quarter the score was 6-3 in favor of Colorado and at the half the lead was up to 13-5. Colorado then changed the line up, taking out eight veteran starters and Philadelphia fought their way back to make it 13-11 in favor of Colorado in the end of the third and at the end of four quarters, at nearly 1:30 am, the Mammoth held the lead 15-14 to take the
win. Scoring for the Mammoth was lead by Captain Gary Gait (4G/2A) and local schoolteacher in the Cherry Creek School Teacher and new addition to the lineup, Brian Langtry (4G/2A). Also for the Mammoth: Eric Seremet (2G/3A),
Al Truant (2G, 2A), Fred Jenner (2G), Brad Reppert (1G), Jeff Wills (3A), Jamie Hanford (2A), and with one assist each: Tom Still, Erik Miller, Jon Brothers, Geoff Bieging and Bryan Cole.

Philadelphia's scoring was led by Jeff Ratcliffe with 6 goals, Streibel (2G,2A), Hendersen (2G), Spano (1G,3A), Cantabene (1G,1A), Kleinman and Tower each with 1 goal, Ruhle (2A), and 1 assist each from Wasik, Guindon, Cromwell, Bergey, Ryan, Martin, Barrett and Eliuk.

Currently the Colorado Mammoth are in training Camp which will run through December 20, 2002, however the final roster will be announced at the end of next week. Primarily, training camp is held at Arapahoe Sports Center at 7300 S. Fraser Street in Englewood, CO. The phone number there is 303-617-3988. The inaugural Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse 2003 season schedule begins January 3, 2003 against the Toronto Rock at the Pepsi Center. The entire 2003 season schedule is available on the website. The Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse team
moved to Denver from Washington DC after the 2002 season where they were based for the last two years as the Washington Power.

The eight home-game schedule will be played at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on Friday and Saturday evenings between January and April. Individual game tickets and Holiday Packages are available now as well as Season ticket packages which range from $80 - $240 and can be purchased at
