The Buffalo Bandits announce today that they have signed restricted free agent Jonas Derks to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Derks came to the Bandits last February in a trade with the New York Saints. Last season the Oshawa, Ontario native netted 28 goals and added 14 assists for 42 points in 15 games. The 5-9, 165 pound forward played for the Sr. B Brooklin Merchants in the Ontario Lacrosse Association this past summer scoring 47 points (26 goals, 21 assists) in 11 games. He was the fifth overall leading scorer in the OLA.

?Jonas continues to improve his game year after year,? said Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott. ?He is an underrated forward who just puts up points wherever he goes.?

Buffalo will continue training camp at the Lakemount Sportsplex in Grimsby, Ontario. The team practices every Tuesday at 6:30 PM, every Saturday at 8:00 PM and every Sunday at 8:00 AM.

The Bandits travel to Rochester on Saturday, December 14 to take on the Knighthawks at the Blue Cross Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 PM. This will be the final preseason game for the Bandits this year.

The Bandits will open the season on January 4 against the Albany Attack. Face off is set for 7:00 PM. Tickets for the Bandits are on sale now at the HSBC Arena. Please call (716) 855-4444 ext. 82 to get your seats today.
