Knighthawks Defeat Bandits 14 10

The Rochester Knighthawks defeated the Buffalo Bandits, 14-10, at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial Saturday night.

Two ?newcomers,? John Grant and Curt Malawsky, led the K-Hawks to the National Lacrosse League preseason exhibition game victory. Grant, who agreed to terms less than 24 hours ago, scored three times and had three assists. Malawsky, who arrived at the arena one-hour before faceoff, had three goals and one assist in his first action of the preseason.

The Knighthawks rallied from a 2-0 first-quarter deficit to score the next four goals and take the lead, 4-2. The Bandits retook the lead on goals by Mike Accursi and Pat McCready. The goals gave Buffalo a 7-5 advantage late in the second quarter.

But Rochester owned the second half, outscoring the Bandits 9-3. The Knighthawks had two four-goal runs, fueled by Curt and Derek Malawsky. Derek scored twice and chipped in three assists. A crowd of 9,274 watched the K-Hawks win at home.

The Knighthawks open the 2002-03 season at home on Saturday, December 28th at 7:35 p.m. against the New Jersey Storm. Individual and season tickets are available by calling (585) 454-5335.
