Knighthawks Re Sign John Grant

Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Jody Gage announced that forward John Grant has re-signed with the team for another season. Grant agreed to a one-year deal this past weekend.

The Peterborough, Ontario, native is a three-time National Lacrosse League All-Star and was the 2000 NLL Rookie of the Year. Last season, he set the single-season franchise records for goals, assists and points. In 16 games, he registered 52 goals and 53 assists for 105 points, which was good enough for the third most points in the NLL.

Over his three seasons, the forward has amassed 131 goals (third all-time) and 141 assists (third all-time) for 272 points (second all-time) in 42 games. In the postseason, Grant has 18 goals and 13 assists in five games. He ranks third all-time in playoff goals (18) and is tied for fifth in assists (13). He is fourth all-time in playoff points with 31.

He played for Team Canada in the 2002 Heritage Cup exhibition game against Team USA. He also played for Team Canada at the 2002 World Lacrosse Championships in Perth, Australia, and led Team Canada and the tournament with 26 points (18 8). He won a silver medal with Team Canada and was named the Attackman of the Games.

Grant was the Knighthawks? first-round selection (first overall) in the 2000 NLL Entry Draft.
