The Vancouver Ravens will open their season this Friday at General Motors Place against 2000-01 National Lacrosse League Champions, the Philadelphia Wings.
The season opener at General Motors Place offers fans the chance to dine for free at the Old Spaghetti Factory, should the Ravens triumph. A Ravens victory would see each ticketholder able to redeem their ticket stub for a free
spaghetti meal at any Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant. "The season-opener is traditionally a great show to watch, with both teams eager to establish themselves. The Old Spaghetti Factory are adding to what will already be an electric atmosphere with their great offer. " Said Bruce Foreman, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Ravens.
Ticket sales have been strong to date for the January 3rd game. The presence of a strong walk-up crowd is expected to push attendance over 9000, nearing capacity.
All spectators in attendance also have the chance to win a 50-inch Toshiba HDTV Compatible Widescreen Television. In association with Futureshop, the Ravens invite fans to enter the contest online at www.vancouverravens.com. Entries
must be completed online prior to Fridays game, and the winner must be in attendance at the game to claim the prize.
The Wings, who finished last season 8-8, and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Washington Power, have had a solid pre-season. They defeated the New Jersey Storm 16-7, and narrowly lost to the newly relocated Colorado Mammoth 15-14. The Wings will be missing two players from last season in Kevin Finneran, who was traded to the Toronto Rock in the off-season, and veteran Jake Bergey, who is out for the season with a knee injury.
