The Columbus Landsharks fought off numerous late Albany scoring runs to hold on for a 14-13 victory in front of 4,460 fans at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY. Veteran Pat Maddalena led Columbus with five goals and five assists, while rookie Dan Dawson scored three and assisted on six to others lead the Landsharks to victory. Kasey Beirnes (3g, 5a), and Gewas Schindler (2g, 3a) also helped Columbus.

The two teams started neck-and-neck, trading goals throughout the entire first half. Columbus led 3-2 after the first, but Albany notched the game at five going into the half. The trend continued into the third quarter, until Pat Maddalena scored a natural hat-trick to break the game open and put Columbus up for good.

Albany tied the game at 11 on a pair of goals from Nick Trudeau, but Kasey Beirnes and Dan Dawson quickly earned the lead back, scoring two goals in 18 seconds. The Attack would pressure again, scoring twice on a 5-on-3 power play to notch the game at 13 with 3:26 to play. However, Columbus kept answering back as Pat Maddalena scored the game-winner at 12:03. Albany had one final chance with 28 seconds to play, but was unable to get off a shot as the Landsharks held on for the win.

Despite the losing effort, Gary Rosyski was named Most Valuable Player with five goals and five assists. Rosyski scored five out of Albany's first six goals of the game, assisting Jamie Grimoldby on the sixth.

Columbus (4-1) hosts the Calgary Roughnecks next Friday at the Nationwide Arena. Albany falls to 2-3, heading into the off-week to prepare for a home-and-home weekend against the division rival Rochester Knighthawks.
