The Ottawa Rebel moved into a second place tie in the Northern Division with a 12-8 win over the New Jersey Storm. Matt Disher led Ottawa between the pipes with strong play, as the Rebel cruised to a defensive victory.
Kevin Howard's three goals and the goaltending of player of the game Matt Disher proved to be too much for the visiting New Jersey Storm, as they fell to the Ottawa Rebel 12-8 at the Ottawa Civic Centre. Disher was stellar in between the pipes, stopping 48 shots, including former Rebel captain Mike Benedict's penalty shot in the second quarter. Rebel defender Eric Pacey's goal at 1:28 of the fourth quarter stood up as the game winner. The Rebel special teams were in high gear, going 4-for-7 on the power play, while Marc Landriault added a short-handed goal.
Ottawa improves to 3-3, while New Jersey falls to 2-4.
