John Tavares scored five goals and added seven assists on a milestone night, as the Buffalo Bandits defeated the Columbus Landsharks, 19-16, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus.
Tavares' second goal was his 400th of his career. The Bandits were also led by Jonas Derks (4g, 0a), and Jason Crosbie (4g, 2a). Steve Dietrich picked up the win in goal for the Bandits.
Pat Maddalena led the Landsharks offense with three goals.
The victory puts the Bandits in first place with a 5-1 record. Next week Buffalo looks to avenge their only loss of the season, as they host the Toronto Rock at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo. The loss drops Columbus to 5-2, good for second place in the tightly contested Central Division. The Landsharks play at Calgary next Friday.
