Ottawa Defeats Philadephia, 11 9

The Ottawa Rebel equalled a team record of four wins in one season by beating the Philadelphia Wings 11-9 at the Civic Centre. Led by the outstanding goaltending of Matt Disher and a four-goal performance by Kevin Howard, the Rebel also improved the club's home record to 3-2.

The Rebel trailed 5-4 at halftime but rallied in the third quarter, outscoring the Wings 4-1 in the third 20-minute frame to take a 10-6 lead. Philadelphia got back into the game and narrowed the Ottawa lead to a single goal when Tom Ryan beat Disher at 7:42 of the fourth. But Howard scored his fourth goal of the game at 9:15 of the final frame to regain Ottawa its two-goal lead.
