Casey Zaph talks to media wearing Mardi Gras jersey
The Rochester Knighthawks will usher in Mardi Gras on Friday, February 28th as they battle the Ottawa Rebel on ?Mardi Gras Night.? The K-Hawks will wear special holiday jerseys during the 7:35 p.m. contest at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.
The Rochester Knightingales dance team will also throw beads into the crowd throughout the game as part of the festivities. Mardi Gras officially begins on Tuesday, March 4th, but the first party of the season starts on Friday night at the BCA with the Knighthawks.
The third jersey features a court jester?s hat on the chest over a purple background. The jester?s cap replaces the Knighthawks logo, which still adorns the top of both shoulders. The purple jersey has white trim on the ends of both sleeves, and at the bottom left to reveal the number. The shoulders are trimmed in black.
The jerseys will be available through a silent auction bid process. The auction begins at 6:30 p.m. when the Arena opens in the upper atrium bar arena of The Blue Cross Arena. Opening bids begin at $100.00, with bidders having an opportunity to match the last bid at the end of the game. Twenty-five Mardi Gras jerseys will be available. All proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Mary Cariola Children?s Center of Rochester.
The Knighthawks (6-3) are coming off an 11-10 loss to the Toronto Rock on Saturday, February 22nd. The K-Hawks? five-game winning streak and record four-game road winning streak ended at the Air Canada Centre. Rochester still has a two-game home winning streak intact.
The game against the Rebel is the first and only contest against Ottawa this season. Rochester has a 2-0 all-time record against the Rebel. Ottawa (4-4) enters the game in third place in the Northern Division. The contest will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC. The game will also be televised tape delayed on Saturday, March 1st on the WB-16 at 7:30 p.m.
