The Rochester Knighthawks celebrated Mardi Gras a couple of days early, as they defeated the Ottawa Rebel 13-7 on ?Mardi Gras Night." The K-Hawks wore special holiday jerseys Friday night at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial to benefit the Mary Cariola Children's Center. The game was the first Friday night home game in Knighthawks? history and the first trip to Rochester for Ottawa. Rochester improved to 3-0 lifetime against the Rebel with the victory. The Knighthawks (7-3) trailed 4-3 at halftime before rallying for seven goals in the second half. Shawn Williams (4 3) and John Grant (2 4) led the K-Hawks to their third straight home win. The night was also special for Regy Thorpe, who played in 100 games as a Knighthawk. Kevin Dostie (2 1) and Matthew Giles (2 1) each had three points for Ottawa. The Rebel fell to 4-5 with the loss. Pat O'Toole picked up the win in goal for Rochester, stopping 39 shots. The Rochester Knighthawks travel to play the Central Division leading Buffalo Bandits (8-1) on Friday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. at HSBC Arena.
