The Albany Attack won their third straight game, defeating the Columbus Landsharks, 11-7, at the Nationwide Arena. Albany led for most of the game, thanks to goaltender Rob Blasdell. Blasdell not only held the Columbus offense to only seven goals, but also scored an empty-net goal late in the game to seal the victory.
Albany dominated the first half, however, they could not stay out of the penalty box. The Landsharks capitalized on the opportunity; at halftime, the score was 6-3, with all three Columbus goals coming on the power-play.
Columbus battled back into the game in the third, however, Albany maintained their lead, forcing the Landsharks to pull Mike Miron for the extra attacker. Blasdell scored his second career goal to make the score 10-7, and Shaydon Santos followed it up with an empty-netter of his own in the dying seconds.
Josh Sanderson led the Attack with three goals, while Gary Rosyski and Mike Regan each scored two. Jamie Taylor had a hat-trick for Columbus, and veteran Gewas Schindler recorded two goals.
Albany improves to 5-6, as they look to break .500 next weekend when they host the struggling New York Saints (1-10).
