New Security Measures At First Union Center

03/20/2003, 3:02pm EST
By National Lacrosse League

In conjunction with President George W. Bush's request to raise the level of
security to orange, Comcast-Spectacor will institute additional security
measures for all events at both the First Union Center and First Union
Spectrum, including the Philadelphia Wings.

"As all Americans have been directed to raise the level of security, we
continue to be in constant communication with government and local law
enforcement authorities, as well as the NLL and all of the leagues in
which our teams play, so that we are in compliance with all regulated and
mandated security measures," said Comcast-Spectacor Ventures President Peter
Luukko. "As a company, it is important for us to make sure our customers and
guests feel safe when coming to our events."

Philadelphia Wings fans visiting the First Union Center and First Union Spectrum will notice additional security measures, including "wanding," where a metal detector
will be waved over each patron as they enter the facility. All patrons may
be subject to a "pat down," where event staff members will physically pat
each attendee entering the facility.

These measures will stay in effect until the President of the United States
changes the level of security.

With the increase in security measures, all fans are encouraged to arrive
earlier than usual to allow for additional time entering the facility.
Comcast-Spectacor will also open the facilities earlier than normal to
accommodate early arrivals.

Comcast-Spectacor's enhanced security measures are part of a multi-level
security protocol developed by the industry at large subsequent to the
events of September 11, 2001. The heightened government advisory triggers
additional security steps within that plan. These enhanced measures will
stay in effect until such time the alert level is modified.

Guests are also reminded that bags, backpacks, luggage, coolers, parcels,
briefcases and like articles will be strictly prohibited from either the
First Union Center or First Union Spectrum. All guests will be subject to
search, at Comcast-Spectacor's discretion, of their person and/or
possessions (including women's handbags of normal size that may be allowed
entry after such search). Patrons with prohibited articles will be turned
away at the entrances and no storage or "check area" will be provided for
such items. Enforcement will be without exceptions.

Other security measures are also being instituted at both facilities to
provide additional safety to patrons, players, performers and the
facilities. For security reasons, these additional measures will not be
disclosed.
