The Buffalo Bandits won their tenth game of the season on Friday, defeating the Ottawa Rebel, 12-9, at the HSBC Arena, in the first game of a home-and-home series. The two teams meet again tommorow night at the Ottawa Civic Centre.
The Bandits never trailed, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. Ottawa tied the game on numerous occassions, but never took the lead, and Buffalo mounted several key runs to keep control of the game.
John Tavares led the Bandits with three goals and three assists, while Jonas Derks chipped in with a pair of goals and assists of his own. Steve Dietrich was named game MVP, recording 39 saves for the Bandits.
Jason Clark and Mat Giles each led Ottawa with two goals and an assist. Matt Disher racked up 41 saves between the pipes, despite the loss.
Buffalo improves to 10-2, as they recover the top record in the National Lacrosse League. The Bandits are also 7-0 at home. Ottawa loses their fourth straight game, and falls to 4-8 on the season.
