The Vancouver Ravens defeated the Ottawa Rebel, 10-7, in front of 9,233 fans at GM Place in Vancouver. The victory puts Vancouver in good position for a wild card playoff berth, but mathematically eliminates Ottawa from postseason contention.
Stephen Evans scored the first goal of the game for Ottawa, but it would be their only lead of the game. Vancouver scored three straight goals and led 5-2 after the first quarter. Ottawa shutout the Ravens, 3-0, in the second, to notch the game at 5-5 at halftime. However, Vancouver matched the feat, and took an 8-5 lead into the final quarter.
Mike Law led the Ravens with a hat-trick and an assist. Dan Stroup and Bruce Alexander also added two goals and an assist each. Dwight Maetche got the win between the pipes with 37 saves, and three assists.
Jason Clark led the Rebel with two goals and four assists. Matt Disher recorded 44 saves in net for Ottawa.
The Ravens improve to 7-6. Vancouver can ensure a wild card playoff berth with victories in their final three road games, at Columbus, Albany and New Jersey. Ottawa (4-10) finishes their trip out West with a game in Calgary on Sunday.
