The Rochester Knighthawks and Buffalo Bandits collide Saturday night in a battle for the Central Division regular season title at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The 7:35 p.m. game this Saturday will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC and televised on WB-16.
The K-Hawks (10-4) trail the first place Bandits (11-2) by one and a half games with just two games remaining. Rochester needs a victory Saturday at The Blue Cross Arena to stay alive in the battle for first place in the division. A loss would drop Rochester into the wild card round.
The Knighthawks clinched a playoff spot for the ninth straight season with a weekend sweep of the Colorado Mammoth and Columbus Landsharks. Rochester beat the Mammoth 16-12 on Friday night and defeated Columbus 11-10 on Sunday. The Knighthawks kept pace with the Central Division leading Buffalo Bandits, who beat the Ottawa Rebel twice this past weekend.
The K-Hawks and Bandits meet for the second time this season. Buffalo defeated Rochester 12-10 on March 7th at HSBC Arena. The Bandits can clinch the division and the No.1 seed in the NLL Champion's Cup Playoffs with a victory in Rochester.
If the Knighthawks win, the team will clinch a home playoff date. The K-Hawks can also host a postseason game if the Calgary Roughnecks
(7-6) lose another game.
Rochester finishes the 2002-03 regular season on Saturday, April 12th, as it hosts the Philadelphia Wings at 7:35 p.m. on Awards Night. This season, six awards will be presented prior to the contest.
