Matt Disher Drafted First By Anaheim

Anaheim selected goaltender Matt Disher with the first selection in the 2003 Dispersal Draft. The British Columbia native and veteran netminder was the starting goaltender for the Ottawa Rebel last season.

In 15 games for the Rebel, Disher posted a save percentage of .764, third best among starting goalies in the league, and a goals against average of 12.33 for the season.

Anaheim General Manager Jim Brady cited goaltending as a key area for improvement during the off-season. The team had the third-highest goals against average last season, allowing 13.78 goals per game. The club posted a record of 3-13 last season.
