Gait And Dowling Franchised

By National Lacrosse League

The Colorado Mammoth ensured that the team's two leading scorers from last season will remain in a Mammoth uniform by designating Gary Gait and Ted Dowling as franchise players. Each club may declare up to two players as franchise players. The Mammoth designated Gait and Dowling from a pool of four total players that were potential unrestricted free agents. The other two players, forward Tom Phair and defenseman John Rosa are now Unrestricted Free Agents and have been removed from the Colorado roster.

The Arizona Sting have exercised their option not to designate any franchise players among the players currently on their roster. The Sting had only one player on their roster who was a potential unrestricted free agent. The player is veteran defenseman Rodney Tapp. By virtue of the team's decision not declare Tapp as a franchise player, Tapp is now an Unrestricted Free Agent, and has been removed from the Arizona roster.
