By National Lacrosse League

The Buffalo Bandits ensured that the team's starting goaltender and leading scorer will remain with the team this season by designating Steve Dietrich and John Tavares as franchise players. Each club may declare up to two players as franchise players. The Bandits designated Tavares and Dietrich from a pool of five total players that were potential unrestricted free agents. The other three players, forwards Rich Kilgour and Randy Fraser, and goaltender Derek General are now Unrestricted Free Agents and have been removed from Buffalo's roster. The Bandits also announced the retirement of veteran forward Duane Jacobs. Jacobs played for eleven seasons in the league, primarily as a member of the Rochester Knighthawks.
