Among the notable players not to make their team's roster is goaltender Mike Thompson, who was released by the Buffalo Bandits. Thompson was in net for the Bandits 2008 Championship Game victory, and played a considerable amount of time that season. Thompson was the backup goaltender to Ken Montour last season. Montour and Angus Goodleaf are the two goaltenders currently on the Bandits' roster. Other notable players recently released from their team training camps include Ben Prepchuk and Andrew Martin (Edmonton) and Brock Boyle (Minnesota).

Calgary's roster includes defenseman Rob Kirkby, who is attempting to return to the Roughnecks and the NLL after having last played in 2006.
