Former Princeton standout returns East, signs with Philly

The Philadelphia Wings have signed transition player Josh Sims to a contract for the 2010 season. The former Princeton University standout played for the Colorado Mammoth franchise for the past seven seasons and helped the team win a championship in 2006. Sims was released by the Mammoth during training camp.

Philadelphia Wings General Manager David Huntley has announced the signing of nine-year veteran transition player Josh Sims to a contract for the 2010 season. Sims played for the Colorado Mammoth franchise for the past seven seasons and helped the team win the NLL Championship in 2006. Sims was released by the Mammoth during training camp.

In his 112 games played, Sims picked up 770 loose balls and had 195 total points (87G, 108A). He also posted an impressive 94 loose balls and 22 points (14G, 8A) in 12 career playoff games.

As a collegiate player for Princeton University, Sims helped lead the Tigers to two National Championships (1997-98). He was also named an NCAA All American three times and won the NCAA's Division I midfielder of the year award on two occasions (1998, 2000).

The Wings open their 2010 home season on Saturday, January 16 vs. the Boston Blazers at the Wachovia Center.
