Defenseman on the move again, this time to Philadelphia

The Calgary Roughnecks have traded defenseman Paul Dawson to the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for a conditional second round selection in the 2011 Entry Draft. Dawson played for Boston last season, but was dealt to Calgary in July after signing a restricted free agent offer sheet with Toronto. It's been an eventful off-season for Dawson, who emerged to become one of the league's top defenseman last season. In 2010, Dawson scooped up 75 loose balls and tallied six points, plus 65 penalty minutes. He also engaged in a couple of fights that became must-see videos on television and the internet.

"Paul adds sandpaper to our lineup, individual toughness and our overall team toughness that is necessary to compete in every game," said Wings General Manager Johnny Mouradian. "Our roster is taking shape as we prepare for training camp."

"Paul Dawson brings a winning tradition and a 'team first' attitude to the Wings," said Wings Owner Mike French. "Character and Grit will strengthen our focus both on the floor and in the locker room. Our ownership group is extremely enthused to have him on board."
