The Calgary Roughnecks have traded their longtime captain, Tracey Kelusky, to the Buffalo Bandits. The veteran forward and a third round selection in the 2011 Entry Draft go to Buffalo, while Calgary receives a first-round selection in 2011. Kelusky helped lead the Roughnecks to championships in 2004 & 2009.

Kelusky has played ten seasons in the league, and has compiled impressive career numbers, scoring 324 goals and 360 assists for 824 career points. He ranks 11th all-time in NLL scoring, just 28 points behind Paul Gait.

Brad Banister, President and General Manager, announced "It's a very sad day for the Calgary Roughnecks and fans when I have to announce the trade of the Captain of the Calgary Roughnecks, Tracey Kelusky who has been with this team for eight seasons."

Banister mentioned that, "It should never be overlooked the things Tracey has done in this community and the charities he has been involved with. Including everything he has accomplished at Central Memorial High School in bringing the lacrosse program to them and the kids that he has coached, taught, and mentored. He has done more for this city and team than anyone can imagine."

The Roughnecks won't have to wait very long to see their former captain. Buffalo visits Calgary on the opening night of the 2011 NLL season. The teams will meet on Saturday, January 8th at Pengrowth Saddledome.

It's the second time this week that the Roughnecks have moved a well-known player. On Tuesday, Calgary traded defenseman Paul Dawson to the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for a conditional selection in the 2011 Entry Draft.
