Scott Ranger led the Roughnecks with six goals Sunday morning, including Calgary's only two in the fourth quarter, as the Roughnecks and Edmonton Rush finished 12-12 in the preseason scrimmage at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Roughnecks jumped to an early 3-0 lead as Dane Dobbie put one past Rush goaltender Aaron Bold less than a minute into the opening quarter followed by goals from Ranger and Geoff McNulty. The Rush rallied back with goals from Shawn Williams and Brett Mydske as Calgary led 3-2 after the first quarter.

The Roughnecks dominated in the second quarter adding five goals to their lead. Ranger scored two power play markers while Shawn Evans, Daryl Veltman and McNulty each netted one.

Momentum shifted in the second half as the Rush scored seven goals, capitalizing on two power play opportunities in the fourth quarter with goals from Tom Johnson and Bobby McBride. With less than 20 seconds remaining in the final quarter, Williams scored his third of the game for Edmonton to draw a tie.

All four Roughnecks goaltenders saw turf time in the scrimmage. Nick Rose started in net and made 10 saves on 12 shots in the first quarter. Alex Coutts allowed three goals on eight shots in the second quarter while Frankie Scigliano stopped 10 of 12 shots in the third. Mike Poulin finished the scrimmage between the pipes making seven saves on 12 shots for Calgary.

"The players remaining at camp have made our decision tough," commented Calgary Roughnecks General Manager Mike Board. "They are playing well as they know they are fighting for jobs."

Calgary has 31 players remaining at training camp. The final 23-player roster must be determined by December 22.

The Roughnecks start the 2012 season in Toronto when they visit the defending 2011 NLL Champions on Sunday, January 8.

Calgary's home opener is set for Saturday, January 21 when the Roughnecks host the Colorado Mammoth. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
