The Washington Stealth announced that the club has signed Brett Bucktooth to a two-year contract and placed Jeff Zywicki on the injured reserve list.
Bucktooth is expected to debut with his new team Saturday night when the Stealth (0-2) welcome the Edmonton Rush (0-1) to the Comcast Arena.
Bucktooth was selected third overall by Buffalo in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft, and was a member of the Bandits’ championship team in 2007. Last season, Buckooth was named to the East Division All-Star team as a member of the Bandits.
“It’s an exciting change for me to play out west and with a new group of teammates,” Bucktooth said. “Having been to back-to-back championship games says a lot about the organization and the players. I can’t wait to get on the floor and get back to work.”
Stealth general manager Doug Locker was pleased to be able to add Bucktooth.
“We feel Brett will add a different dimension to our offense and are excited to have him wearing a Stealth uniform,” he said. “He has accomplished a great deal in his lacrosse career and brings with him a level of experience that is hard to find. We believe he is going to be a great addition moving forward.”
Over the previous two seasons, Bucktooth tallied 28 goals and 30 assists, and collected 108 loose balls in 31 regular-season games.
Zywicki was placed on injured reserve due to a lingering injury suffered last summer. He’s had two goals and an assist in two games for Washington this season.
