Week 16 in the National Lacrosse League saw some teams lock down playoff spots whlle others were jockeying for position in hopes of being able to play in front of their home fans.
That resulted in quite a bit of movement in the latest power rankings from ILIndoor.com
The shifting started with Calgary taking over the top spot from Colorado.
The Roughnecks closed out their regular season with their 10th consecutive regular-season win over the Rush, 9-6 on Saturday. Calgary will host Edmonton in a West Divisional semifinal matchup on May 5 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Colorado fell to No. 2 after dropping a 14-11 decision to Edmonton on Friday in Denver. The Mammoth will wrap up their regular-season slate Saturday night against the Swarm at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. in a game to be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
Colorado and Minnesota will square off in the other West Divisional semifinal to be played the weekend of May 4-6 in Denver.
The Rush’s split against the West’s top two teams not only resulted in clinching a playoff berth, but also pushed them up two spots to No. 5. Edmonton will meet Toronto on Saturday night at Rexall Place.
Philadelphia and Rochester each dropped two spots after losses to Minnesota and Buffalo, respectively. The Wings and Knighthawks will play for the final time in the regular season on Saturday night with a lot still on the line before the playoffs.
Philadelphia would clinch a home playoff game with a win. If the Knighthawks prevail, they will host an East Divisional semifinal game, and the Wings will be on the road to start the playoffs. The Wings can still clinch the East with a win and a Toronto loss.
