Loyola of Maryland wins first NCAA lacrosse championship

Lusby scores four in Greyhounds' 9-3 victory over Maryland

For the first time, the Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds are NCAA lacrosse champions.

Eric Lusby registered three of his four goals in a dominant second half as the Greyhounds defeated Maryland 9-3 on Monday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Loyola outscored Maryland 4-0 in the second half and tallied the final seven markers of the contest. The Greyhounds lost in their only other finals appearance in 1990.

Mike Chanenchuk, Jesse Bernhardt and Kevin Cooper scored for Maryland, which lost its second straight finals appearance.
