Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel makes good on the friendly wager with the Mayor of Rochester. Mandel is joined by Rush team captain Jimmy Quinlan.
City of Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel wears the 2012 NLL Champions’ Rochester Knighthawks jersey on Wednesday in city council meetings as issued in a friendly wager with the City of Rochester Mayor Thomas S. Richards prior to the NLL Championship game held in Rochester on Saturday. May, 19th.
Rochester captured its third championship, and first on its home turf, rallying from a four-goal deficit to defeat the Edmonton Rush, 9-6.
Mayor Stephen Mandel also acknowledged Captain Jimmy Quinlan on the Rush’s great run in the playoffs, despite the lost in the Championship game that the City of Edmonton is very proud of the Rush representation of the City of Edmonton. The City of Edmonton looks forward to the bright future of the Rush team and competing for a Championship again next season.
Both Mayors have also enjoyed a gift basket from their respective cities. Edmonton’s basket included Cheemo Perogies, Mundare sausage, an Edmonton picture book, locally-brewed Alley Cat beer, a copy of the recently released Edmonton Poets Laureate anthology, and a CD of local singer-songwriter Colleen Brown. Rochester’s basket included Lilac Hill wine, Zweigle white hots, Genny Beer, Stever’s Candies and Sticky Lips BBQ Sauce.
