Buffalo Bandits General Manager Steve Dietrich has announced that the team has signed eight players, including four of the Bandits’ seven selections in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. Each of the eight players were signed to one-year deals.
The Bandits have agreed to terms with free agent forward Nick Cotter and forward Jamie Rooney, whose rights were acquired in an August trade with the Toronto Rock. They also re-signed transition player Jon Harasym and defenseman Mike McNamara.
Cotter totaled 80 points (43+37) and 116 loose balls in 41 games over his first three NLL seasons, adding another four (3+1) points in two playoff games.
A five-year NLL veteran, Rooney (5'10", 185 lbs. 7/31/84) has recorded 124 points (65+59) and 219 loose balls in 66 regular season games, adding 12 points (8+4) in four playoff contests. The Arthur, Ontario native recorded 14 points (8+6) and 34 loose balls in 10 games with the Rock in 2012.
Harasym (5’9”, 180 lbs., 12/13/79) has appeared in all but three of the team’s games since re-joining the Bandits in 2010, including a career-high 16 regular season games last year in which he tallied seven assists and 52 loose balls.
McNamara (6’2”, 220 lbs., 1/7/90) made his NLL debut for the Bandits last season, recording one assist and 11 loose balls in four regular season games. He also appeared in the Bandits’ playoff game against Toronto.
The team also has agreed to terms with four of the seven players selected at this year’s entry draft, including Jordan Critch (16th overall pick), Kevin Brownell (22nd), Joel Matthews (31st) and Wenster Green (40th).
