The Minnesota Swarm have announced that the team has re-signed defenseman Mitch Belisle to a one-year deal. The contract is currently pending league approval.
Belisle, 26, notched four assists, 57 loose balls and forced five turnovers in 15 games last season with Minnesota. In his career with Minnesota and two prior stops, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound defenseman has recorded 26 points (9g, 17a) and 380 loose balls in 75 games.
“Mitch is a big part of our leadership group and his veteran experience on and off the floor makes him an invaluable part of our team’s makeup,” Swarm associate general manager and head coach Joe Sullivan said. “Mitch epitomizes what we’re all about: We want good character players, who will push their teammates each and every night.”
The Swarm opens its 2013 season schedule on January 12 with a road game against the Buffalo Bandits.
