The Buffalo Bandits have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Dhane Smith, the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. Smith led all Ontario Jr. "A" players with 107 points (38+69) in 19 games last season.
Smith (6'3", 195 lbs.) attended Buffalo's rookie training camp this past weekend and looks to make an impact as a transition player.
"I’m excited to see where I wind up," Smith told ILindoor.com's Stephen Stamp. "It doesn’t really matter to me, to be honest. I can play out the back door or the front door."
Smith is also excited to take the field at First Niagara Center in Buffalo after watching Bandits defenseman Billy Dee Smith, his cousin and current teammate, play at "Banditland" over the years.
“It’s actually the only arena I’ve been to NLL games in and they’re nuts," he said. "It’s such a great atmosphere. I can’t wait to play there.”
