The Rochester Knighthawks celebrated their 2012 National Lacrosse League Champion's Cup win with a ring ceremony last night before the start of this weekend's training camp. Knighthawks owner and general manager Curt Styres presented the rings to the team commemorating last May's 9-6 comeback victory at home over the Edmonton Rush.
The championship win marked the third title in Knighthawks history (1997 and 2007), but the first for Styres, who purchased the team after the 2008 season. The team enters training camp this year with plenty of excitement surrounding the possibility of a repeat and also the return of former NLL MVP Casey Powell, who sat out the 2012 season.
Rochester will begin their title defense on the road against the Washington Stealth to kick off the 2013 NLL regular season on Saturday, Jan. 5. The team's preseason will be highlighted by an exhibition game in Montreal, Quebec against the Toronto Rock at Bell Centre on Saturday, Dec. 15.
