The National Lacrosse League has announced a summary of discipline stemming from incidents occurring during Week #2 of the 2013 NLL regular season for games played the weekend of Jan. 11-13.
Buffalo Bandits transition player Jon Harasym has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed sum stemming from an illegal cross check on Andrew Watt in the fourth quarter of the game vs. Minnesota on Jan. 12. A major penalty was called on the field and upon league review of the incident, a match penalty has been assessed to Harasym for violation of Dangerous Contact to the Head (Rule 77).
Colorado Mammoth defenseman Chet Koneczny has been suspended one game for an unsportsmanlike conduct infraction committed against Curtis Hodgson in the fourth quarter of the game vs. Washington on Jan. 12. Upon league review, Koneczny was assessed a match penalty for Unsportsmanlike Conduct (Rule 95.3), carrying an automatic one-game suspension.
Washington Stealth defenseman Tim Henderson has been suspended one game for elbowing John Gallant in the fourth quarter of the game vs. Colorado on Jan. 12. A major penalty was called on the field and upon league review, Henderson was assessed a match penalty for Elbowing (Rule 85.5), carrying an automatic one-game suspension.
In other league player discipline news, Buffalo Bandits transition player Mark Steenhuis has been assessed a Game Misconduct penalty and fined an undisclosed sum for illegal contact committed against Drew Westervelt in the second quarter of the game vs. Philadelphia on Jan. 11. A major penalty was called on the field and after league review, Steenhuis was assessed a Game Misconduct for Unsportsmanlike Actions by a Player on an Opponent (Rule 95.13).
The league has rescinded Game Misconduct penalties issued to Washington Stealth defenseman Mike Grimes and Colorado Mammoth forward Sean Pollock stemming from incidents that took place during the Colorado vs. Washington game on Jan. 12.
Philadelphia Wings forward Jordan Hall continues to appeal his one-game suspension stemming a match penalty for high sticking (Rule 62.2) in a preseason scrimmage vs. Toronto on Dec. 22. Hall's hearing will take place on Friday and a ruling is expected to be made before Saturday's game vs. Toronto.
