13 players suspended, two head coaches fined following league review

The National Lacrosse League has announced a summary of discipline stemming from incidents occurring during Week #10 of the NLL regular season for games played on March 8-9.

Four Buffalo Bandits players, David Brock, Nick Cotter, Jimmy Purves (traded to Rochester) and Billy Dee Smith, and four Colorado Mammoth players, Ilija Gajic, Chet Koneczny, Rich Morgan and Jon Sullivan (traded to Rochester), have been assessed one-game suspensions stemming from fighting incidents at the 14:29 mark of the fourth quarter of the Colorado at Buffalo game on Saturday, March 9. Each of the eight players received a Fighting Major and Match penalty on the field, and upon league review, the Match penalties, which carry an automatic one-game suspension, have been upheld for violation of Second Fight After The Original Fight (Rule 80.15).

Colorado's Koneczny has been assessed a one-game suspension stemming from an obscene gesture incident at the 14:29 mark of the fourth quarter. Koneczny received a Gross Misconduct penalty on the field, and upon league review, Koneczny has been assessed a Game Misconduct penalty for violation of Obscene Gestures by Players (Rule 94.2).

Koneczny has also been assessed an automatic two-game suspension stemming from violation of Repeat Offender (Rule 41.4), as Koneczny received his second Match penalty of the season after being assessed a Match Penalty for an incident in the Washington at Colorado game on January 12. In summation, Koneczny has been suspended for a total of four games.

Two Philadelphia Wings players, Michael Manley and Brandon Miller, in addition to Jeff Moleski from the Washington Stealth, have been assessed one-game suspensions stemming from fighting incidents at the 13:48 mark of the fourth quarter of the Washington at Philadelphia game on Saturday, March 9.

All three players received Fighting Major and Game Misconduct penalties on the field, and upon league review, Manley and Moleski have been assessed one-game suspensions for violation of Second Fight After The Original Fight (Rule 80.15), while Miller has been assessed a one-game suspension and Game Misconduct penalty for violation of Intervention Of A Fight Already in Progress (Rule 80.12).

Washington's Mitch McMichael has been assessed a one-game suspension stemming from an illegal cross check incident at the 8:14 mark of the fourth quarter. McMichael received an Illegal Cross Checking Major penalty on the field, and upon league review, a Match penalty has been assessed for violation of Illegal Cross Checking (Rule 63.3).

Washington's Justin Pychel has been assessed a one-game suspension stemming from an illegal cross check incident at the 13:33 mark of the third quarter. Pychel received an Illegal Cross Checking Minor penalty on the field, and upon league review, a Match penalty has been assessed for violation of Illegal Cross Checking (Rule 63.3).

Washington's Matt Beers has been assessed a Game Misconduct penalty for violation of Two Majors in One Game (Rule 38.2) after receiving an Illegal Cross Checking Major penalty at the 5:13 mark of the first quarter and Fighting Major penalty at the 13:48 mark of the fourth quarter.

Buffalo's head coach Darris Kilgour has been assessed a Game Misconduct penalty and fined an undisclosed amount stemming from an incident immediately following the game. Buffalo's bench received a Gross Misconduct penalty on the field, and upon league review, the ruling is upheld for violation of Gross Misconduct (Rule 42).

Philadelphia's head coach Johnny Mouradian has been fined an undisclosed amount stemming from an obscene gesture during the fourth quarter of the game. No penalty was assessed on the field, but upon league review, Mouradian has been fined for violation of Obscene Language/Gestures (Bylaw IX L).
