Minnesota's Jackson vs. Calgary's Snider

Minnesota Swarm's Shayne Jackson takes on Geoff Snider from the Calgary Roughnecks in the Week #15 Fantasy Spotlight.

The Fantasy Spotlight last week had Rhys Duch from the Washington Stealth take on the red-hot Callum Crawford of the Minnesota Swarm. The Swarm had two games last weekend so we’ll use Crawford’s better performance for the Spotlight. Here are their stats from Week #14:

Callum Crawford (vs. Philadelphia): four goals, four assists, and five loose balls for 29 fantasy points.

Rhys Duch (vs. Calgary): three goals, four assists, and four loose balls for 24 fantasy points.

Duch put up quite a fight with his ninth hat trick of the season, but Crawford still had a slightly better fantasy performance. Crawford actually played well in both games last weekend and now ranks among the top ten fantasy scorers at forward despite missing a few games earlier in the year. Last week was Crawford’s third Fantasy Spotlight win this season and he will advance to the Championship matchup in two weeks.

Crawford’s final opponent will be determined by this week’s Fantasy Spotlight battle between Geoff Snider and Shayne Jackson. It might seem like an unfair matchup at first glance considering Snider has 282 total fantasy points whereas Jackson has only 197. Snider costs $25 while Jackson is priced at only $15. It’s clear that Jackson is a fantasy underdog here. On the other hand, had Jackson and Snider faced each other last weekend, Jackson would have come out on top.

Shayne Jackson is currently second in the National Lacrosse League in rookie scoring among with 55 points. He has over twice as many actual points as Geoff Snider who has 26. Jackson is also coming off a season-high seven points (3 + 4) against the Bandits last weekend. It is also worth noting that Jackson only costs $15 and averages 13.1 fantasy points per dollar spent. For comparison, Mark Matthews averages 12.3 fantasy points per dollar spent.

A good portion of Snider’s fantasy value is derived from the loose balls category. Snider leads the league with 200 LBs – the fifth time in the last sixth years that he has surpassed 200 LBs. Thanks to a huge game last weekend by Jordan MacIntosh, Geoff Snider fell to second in total fantasy points at transition, but he still averages the most fantasy points per game out of anybody at the position with 21.7.

Will Jackson be able to pull off the upset and out-score fantasy juggernaut Geoff Snider? Cast your vote in the poll on the right.
