Crawford takes on Snider in Spotlight Final

Minnesota Swarm's Callum Crawford takes on Calgary Roughnecks' Geoff Snider in the 2013 NLL Fantasy Spotlight Final.

Last week’s Fantasy Spotlight saw Calgary Roughnecks transition player Geoff Snider go up against Minnesota Swarm rookie forward Shayne Jackson. Here are their stats from Week #15:

Geoff Snider (vs. Rochester): one goal and 15 loose balls for 19 fantasy points

Shayne Jackson (vs. Colorado): two goals, two assists, and three loose balls for 15 fantasy points.

Although the rookie did give Snider a good fight, it comes as no surprise to see Geoff earn his third Spotlight win of the season. Jackson had more actual points with two goals and a pair of assists, but loose balls are what makes Snider so valuable when it comes to fantasy lacrosse and that category proved to be the deciding factor in this matchup. Snider now has 215 LBs on the year and will move on the final round of the Fantasy Spotlight Winner’s Tournament.

Snider will be taking on Callum Crawford in the final Fantasy Spotlight of the season this weekend. The winner of this matchup will be crowned the 2013 Fantasy Spotlight Champion – an extremely prestigious and highly sought after title on the same level with such awards like the NLL MVP. Okay, maybe not, but it is still testament to a player’s value when it comes to the fantasy challenge.

Considering it will be the fourth Spotlight appearance for both Snider and Crawford this season, not much else can be said about these two players that hasn’t been stated already. Both Snider and Crawford have already beaten some of the sport’s best. Snider took down John Grant Jr. in Week #12 while Crawford bested Rhys Duch in Week #14. Both Snider and Crawford currently cost fantasy mangers 25 bucks and each of them average over 20 fantasy points per game this season.

Crawford might be the slight favorite in this one, though, since he is currently one of the hottest players in the league. He has put up 30 fantasy points twice in the last five games and averages a whopping 28.8 fantasy points per game during that period. Crawford ranks among the top 10 fantasy scorers with 287 points and is third the NLL with 89 points (30 + 59) despite missing a couple of games back in February.
