The National Lacrosse League has announced that Jordan MacIntosh from the Minnesota Swarm has won the Transition Player of the Year Award for the 2013 NLL season.

MacIntosh, who recorded 55 points (27+28) and ranked second in the league in loose balls (197) and fourth in faceoffs won (241), won the Transition Player of the Week Award six times during the regular season.

"MacIntosh's play has continuously gotten better and better," said Swarm head coach Joe Sullivan. "His attention to detail is second to none. He can play a great transition game, and as good as he is finding and feeding the ball to his teammates, he's equally as effective going to the net himself."

The Oakville, Ontario native played collegiately at RIT and was Minnesota's first-round selection (4th overall) in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. He finished his 2012 rookie season with 51 points (23+28) and also ranked among the league's top five in both loose balls (153) and faceoffs won (151).

MacIntosh becomes the second-straight Swarm player to earn the distinction after teammate Andrew Suitor won the franchise's first-ever Transition Player of the Year award in 2012. After Suitor suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this year, MacIntosh helped fill the role of their injured captain.

"They're both great players and different in their own right," Sullivan said. "It opened up an opportunity for someone to step up and it seemed like we didn't miss a beat. We benefited from MacIntosh taking over that role in a big way."

The Swarm will visit the defending champion Rochester Knighthawks for their East Division Final playoff game on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET with the winner advancing to the 2013 NLL Championship Game the following weekend.

Jesse Gamble from the Toronto Rock was the runner-up for the award while Philadelphia Wings captain Brodie Merrill finished third in the voting.

Gamble, who played collegiately at Cornell University and was Toronto's second-round (17th overall) selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, finished his second career season ranked eighth in the league with 108 loose balls. The Rockwood, Ontario native also recorded 15 points (9+6) and won one Transition Player of the Week Award in 2013.

The eight-year NLL veteran Merrill posted 26 points (10+16), finished seventh in the league with 123 loose balls and won two Transition Player of the Week Awards in 14 games played this season. The Orangeville, Ontario native, who played collegiately at Georgetown University and was the first overall selection in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, won back-to-back Transition Player of the Year Awards in 2009 and 2010.

The announcement of 2013 NLL Season Awards continues Thursday with the Goaltender of the Year Award. The 2013 NLL Season Awards are determined by a vote of the league's Board of Governors, General Managers and Head Coaches.
