Parade and Celebration at Blue Cross Arena highlighted festivities

The Rochester Knighthawks will hold their 2013 NLL Championship Parade on Monday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. before the Championship Celebration at The Blue Cross Arena from 7-9 p.m. with the event free and open to the public.

The Rochester Knighthawks will hold their 2013 NLL Championship Parade on Monday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. before the Championship Celebration at The Blue Cross Arena from 7-9 p.m. with the event free and open to the public.

With an 11-10 win over the Washington Stealth on May 11, Rochester became the first team to win back-to-back NLL titles since the Toronto Rock (2002-03). The Championship was the fourth in the team’s 19-year history.

On June 3, the players and staff will transport the Cup through the streets in a caravan of vehicles that will include wrapped cars driven by fans. The procession will start at The Blue Cross Arena and end at City Hall on Church Street. Rochester mayor Thomas S. Richards will then hand Knighthawks owner and general manager Curt Styres the Key to the City.

The Knighthawks will also hold an evening celebration at The Blue Cross Arena from 7-9 p.m. where fans will have the opportunity to meet the players and have their pictures taken with the Cup. Kids can enjoy the bounce houses and fans of all ages can watch a replay of the 2013 Championship Game on the video board.

Players confirmed to attend the festivities include Mike Accursi, Dan Dawson, Paul Dawson, Angus Goodleaf, Cody Jamieson, Stephen Keogh, Mike Kirk, Craig Point and Joe Walters.

“I look forward to sharing our accomplishment with our fans and the city of Rochester. It is a day to celebrate another successful season,” said Walters.

The players will be joined by Styres, Knighthawks president Lewis Staats, VP of player personnel Jody Gage, VP of Lacrosse Paul Gait, Assistant GM Landon Miller, head coach Mike Hasen, assistant coach Paul Day, public address announcer Jeremy Newman, broadcaster Craig Rybczynski and front office staff.
