The American Indoor Lacrosse Association (AILA) has announced that the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY, will host a regional qualifying event on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 for the inaugural IMG Nationals Indoor Championship. U15, U17 and U19 indoor lacrosse teams from the greater Buffalo area will be going head-to-head to determine which team will move on to the IMG Nationals Indoor Championship in Philadelphia, PA, from Jan. 10-12 at the Wells Fargo Center.
“The Buffalo Bandits and the First Niagara Center are very pleased to host the AILA Qualifier on November 30-Dec 1.,” said Bandits director of lacrosse operations and tournament director Scott Loffler. "This is extremely exciting for the Buffalo area and a unique opportunity for the WNY youth lacrosse community. One of our main goals is to grow the game of indoor lacrosse in our region. This tournament helps us achieve that.”
The IMG Indoor Nationals will take place in conjunction with the Philadelphia Wings opening game of the 2014 National Lacrosse League professional indoor lacrosse season and also the same weekend as the 2014 U.S. Lacrosse National Convention.
“We are excited to give players from across the country the opportunity and the platform to develop and showcase their indoor lacrosse talent,” said Johnny Mouradian, General Manager of the Philadelphia Wings and the founder of the American Indoor Lacrosse Association. “Our goal is to generate a greater level of youth involvement playing indoor lacrosse by providing field lacrosse players the opportunity to compete and develop a special skill set that will enhance their game and lacrosse IQ.”
Another regional qualifying event for the inaugural IMG Indoor Nationals will be hosted by the Minnesota Swarm from Sept. 28-29 at the Hastings Civic Arena in Hastings, MN.
