The Philadelphia Wings have announced franchise player designations on goaltender Brandon Miller and team captain Brodie Merrill for the 2014 NLL season. By placing franchise tags on the players, the team retains the players' rights for the 2014 season and avoids unrestricted free agency.

“Brandon is the cornerstone of the defense and the longest-tenured member of the Wings. Brodie is arguably one of the best leaders in the sport of lacrosse,” said Wings president Michael French. “Combined, they are the heart and soul of the Philadelphia Wings.”

Merrill and Miller collectively have over 21 seasons of experience in the NLL and represent the core of the Wings' leadership.

Merrill, a transition player from Orangeville, Ontario, appeared in 14 games last season. Statistically, he finished with 10 goals, 16 assists, and 123 loose balls recovered.

Miller was named to the NLL All-Pro Second Team last season. He appeared in 15 games and compiled 556 saves while only allowing 12.12 goals per game. Miller reached a career milestone by recording his 4,000th save in 2013.

Starting in 2015 under the terms of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, teams will be limited to one franchise player designation per season.
