The Colorado Mammoth will be the first and only team in the National Lacrosse League to open training camp this weekend, marking the start of what should be one of, if not the most, competitive preseasons in league history. The NLL preseason culminates with the 2014 regular season opener on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Following team meetings tomorrow night, the 30-man camp roster hits the turf for the first time on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. MT at The Recreation Center at Westridge (9650 Foothills Canyon Blvd.) in Highlands Ranch. The evening session (6:30 p.m. MT) on Saturday is open to the public.
“I’ve worked and played for several franchises in the NLL, and the Mammoth fans are far-and-away the best,” said coach Bob Hamley. “An open camp session gives Mammoth enthusiasts the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes, up-close-and-personal experience.”
The team will also practice on Sunday morning at 9:15am MT. All sessions are open to the media.
“We hope to be the first to start the season, and the last to finish,” said Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett. “Our mission is to host the championship game on our home turf.”
Training camp will continue in Toronto on December 6, and then return to Colorado for two more weekends.
Single-game tickets for the Mammoth’s 2014 regular season start at just $10 each and go on sale on Friday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. MT. They will be available for purchase at the Pepsi Center Box Office, all TicketHorse outlets, online at TicketHorse.com or by phone at 303.53.HORSE.
