The Colorado Mammoth opened the NLL preseason with their first weekend of training camp at The Recreation Center at Westridge in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. A three-day stretch that began with physicals and team meetings concluded with a very positive vibe among the team from top to bottom.
“This was a great way to start camp, and I was extremely impressed by the level of play throughout the weekend,” said coach Bob Hamley.
Saturday morning’s practice meshed returners with fresh faces, and the newcomers fit right in according to Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett.
“There was instant chemistry between the veterans and the off-season acquisitions, which isn’t something you typically see this early," he said.
The increased focus on team speed was on full display all weekend. A reduction in roster size in the National Lacrosse League is expected to result in more of an end-to-end game being played throughout the season.
Training camp continues in Toronto with exhibition games against the Minnesota Swarm and Toronto Rock the first weekend in December. The Mammoth will not make many any roster decisions prior to the second session of camp.
Single-game tickets for the Mammoth’s 2014 regular season start at just $10 apiece and are on sale now at the Pepsi Center Box Office, all TicketHorse outlets, online at TicketHorse.com or by phone at 303.53.HORSE.
