The Philadelphia Wings have announced that the team has signed unrestricted free agent Ryan Ward to a two-year agreement and have re-signed defenseman Brett Manney to a one-year deal along with rookies Garret Thul and Michael Diehl.
Ward, returns to the Wings after originally being drafted by them in 2004. Ward spent his initial two seasons in Philadelphia as well as time with Minnesota and most recently Edmonton. Last season he appeared in all 16 regular season games contributing 75 points (54 assists, 21 goals).
Manney, an assistant captain, enters his sixth season in the NLL and fourth with the Wings. A native of Newton, PA, Manney made 14 starts during the regular and post-seasons in 2013. He contributed on defense with seven forced turnovers and recovered 39 loose balls.
Thul enters his first season in the NLL with the Philadelphia Wings. Thul graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was a three-time USILA All-American and is Army’s career leader in goals (163). He is currently an active member of the United States military.
Diehl enters his first season with the Wings and the NLL. He attended the 2013 Free Agent camp for the Wings. A graduate of Rutgers University, Diehl played four seasons for the Scarlet Knights as a midfielder and was a top contributor on offense.
The Philadelphia Wings will host the Buffalo Bandits at Wells Fargo Center for their 2014 season home opener on Sunday, January 12, at 4 p.m.
