Lacrosse fans aren’t the only ones who enjoy playing the 2014 NLL Fantasy Challenge as many NLL players also have their own fantasy teams. After the first week of the 2014 season, Jeff Cornwall from the Edmonton Rush has managed his fantasy team to the very top of the standings via an impressive Week #1 lineup.
Cornwall’s team, named “Diet Water” presumably for his strict workout regimen, currently has 139 total fantasy points. Cornwall had three players in last week’s top 10 fantasy scorers on his roster including the Rochester Knighthawks goalies, Kevin Buchanan from the Philadelphia Wings, and real-life teammate Curtis Knight. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he also had himself as one of his fantasy defensemen.
Calgary Roughnecks forward Matthew Dinsdale also has a fantasy team doing pretty well right now. His team, “MartyParty,” is tied for 57th with 111 total fantasy points. Not bad at all considering there are over 2,000 players.
Meanwhile, Vancouver Stealth goaltender Tyler Richards’ fantasy team, aptly named “T Rich” is ranked at 260th. He may have had the Rochester goaltenders on his team last week, but one can only surmise he’ll be selling them and adding the Stealth goalies to his fantasy roster this week.
Although Cornwall is currently leading the fantasy game, fans should keep in mind that he isn’t eligible to win any of our great prizes. Hence, Simon Sharples’ team “Pipe City” is actually the current frontrunner in that regard with 132 fantasy points. Keep up the good work, Simon! And good luck this season, fans!
