One-game suspensions for Toronto's England & Vancouver's Sorensen

The National Lacrosse League has announced a summary of discipline stemming from incidents occurring during Week 2 of the 2014 NLL regular season for games played on January 3-4.

Toronto Rock defenseman Craig England has been assessed a one-game suspension stemming from an illegal-cross checking incident on Calgary Roughnecks defenseman Dan MacRae at approximately the 9:02 mark of the first quarter of their game on Friday, Jan. 3. A slashing minor was called on the field, and upon league review, England has been assessed a Match Penalty for violation of Illegal Cross-Checking (Rule 63.3), which carries an automatic one-game suspension (Rule 41.2).

Vancouver Stealth defenseman Kyle Sorensen has been assessed a one-game suspension stemming from a spearing incident on Colorado Mammoth forward Drew Westervelt at approximately the 3:24 mark of the first quarter of their game on Saturday, Jan. 4. Sorensen was assessed a Match Penalty on the field, and upon league review, the ruling is upheld for violation of Spearing (Rule 64.4), which carries an automatic one-game suspension (Rule 41.2).

Both England and Sorensen have appealed the suspensions and are eligible to play this weekend in Week 3.
