The National Lacrosse League trade deadline is set for Tuesday, March 18 at 3 p.m. ET. With only three teams from each of the two divisions qualifying for the playoffs, some NLL clubs might look to make some moves for a postseason run at the Champion's Cup. Meanwhile, other front offices may have to decide whether they should gear up for a run at one of the final playoff spots or rebuild for next year as they fall behind in the standings.

One team that might stand pat is the undefeated Edmonton Rush, who have won their first 10 games of the season and are scheduled to host the East Division co-leader Buffalo Bandits this coming weekend. Rush general manager and head coach Derek Keenan suggested that their current roster would likely remain intact.

"I never say never but it is safe to say- highly unlikely that we will do anything," Keenan said. "Our chemistry and cohesion is very good right now so it would have to be something I feel would completely take us over the top but at the same time not upset what we have built."

However, it's important to keep in mind that the deadline is much like a chess match and smokescreens have become the norm in today's sports trade landscape.

Last season, there were a handful of trades before the deadline as notables such as Casey Powell, Scott Self and Jon Sullivan were swapped amongst teams along with draft picks. Even the rights to Buffalo Bandits general manager Steve Dietrich, who had retired from goaltending duties seasons before, were packaged in a deal. You never know what might happen.

Furthermore, teams have until Thursday, March 20 at 3 p.m. ET to sign any non-rostered players (unrestricted free agents) before the free agency period ends for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

Update: The Philadelphia Wings and Toronto Rock announced a trade just in time before the NLL trade deadline. Philadelphia has sent veteran goaltender Brandon Miller to Toronto in exchange for transition player Kyle Belton along with the Rock's best second-round selection and fourth-round selection in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft.
