Last week marked the epic conclusion of this season’s Fantasy Spotlight tournament. It was a showdown between Philadelphia Wings forward Kevin Crowley and the red-hot Buffalo Bandits goaltenders. Here are their stats from Week 15:

Kevin Crowley (vs. Calgary): three loose balls for three fantasy points.

Buffalo (vs. Calgary): 35 saves made, 15 goals allowed, one assist, and two loose balls for nine fantasy points.

Buffalo’s goalies had an uncharacteristically bad fantasy showing last week. Nine fantasy points is the lowest total they have scored all season long. This was the perfect opportunity for Kevin Crowley to sneak away with a win despite being a heavy underdog going into this matchup.

Unfortunately, Crowley was held without a point in Philadelphia’s 13-9 loss to the Calgary Roughnecks. Crowley had just three fantasy points from loose balls. This wasn’t enough to beat Buffalo’s goaltenders. Buffalo may have also lost to Calgary on the field but their performance was enough to defeat Kevin Crowley in the Spotlight and become the next Fantasy Spotlight Champion.

Buffalo’s goalies are currently second in overall fantasy scoring with 349 total points in 14 games played. Buffalo defeated some of the game’s best scorers throughout the season including the Toronto goaltenders, Callum Crawford, Garrett Billings, and now Kevin Crowley.

Though technically the title of Fantasy Spotlight Champion will be shared by starting goaltender Anthony Cosmo and backup Kurtis Wagar, it was Cosmo who scored the vast majority of their fantasy points. Anthony Cosmo has been having one of the best seasons of his NLL career. He currently holds a .803 save percentage – a career high during the regular season if the season were to end today. Cosmo has drawn closer and closer to breaking Matt Vinc’s single-season saves record of 662 from last season. He has 601 saves with four games still left to play. Cosmo definitely deserves to be named the 2014 Fantasy Spotlight Champion. It will likely be just the first of many awards he will win this year.
