The Colorado Mammoth have announced that the team has removed the ‘interim’ title from its coaching trio and re-signed Pat Coyle, Chris Gill and Dan Stroup to two-year contract agreements. The former Mammoth players were hired in early March and led the team to a midseason turnaround with a winning record that resulted in a postseason berth.

“Pat, Chris and Dan did a phenomenal job down the stretch this past season, and got 'buy-in' from players and the front office,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “I’m excited for the future, and confident the coaches will take this team to new heights.”

The coaches, who will collectively share a title without an official head coach being named, have won a combined 13 NLL championships. Coyle recently won induction into the NLL Hall of Fame Class of 2014, becoming the first player in history to be voted in exclusively as a defenseman.

“I’m humbled by the contract extension from Steve and the Mammoth organization, and feel very honored and privileged to be inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame,” said Coyle. “I am very proud of my lacrosse playing career, and this honor is the cherry on top."

Coyle was a member of the Mammoth’s All-Decade Team in 2012. Ten years prior, he was the NLL’s Defensive Player of the Year in the inaugural season of the award. Revered as a ‘coach on the field’ during his 12-year tenure in the NLL, Coyle won five championships.

Gill, a three-time champion, scored 338 goals in his illustrious career. The British Columbia native led the NLL with 17 power-play goals in the Mammoth’s championship season. He spent four years in Colorado (2006, 2008-10), and retired as a member of the organization.

Stroup, a 2010 inductee in the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame, was a four-time champion as a player and also won a ring as an assistant coach. He was the MVP of the 2000 NLL championship game, and scored 19 or more goals in 10 straight seasons.
